Physalis peruviana
Short-lived perennial native to the Andes and cultivated since Incan times. Closely related to tomatillos and ground cherries, plants produce large amounts of tasty and nutritious, small, cherry-sized yellow/orange fruits, loaded with seeds and vitamin A, C and B. Will grow in rich or marginal soils, often bearing more fruit in the latter! Start early and cultivate as per tomatoes.
