Capsicum baccatum

This ancient pre Columbian variety comes from Peru, grown on the slopes of the Andes for centuries. It is in the family of Capiscum baccatum, which includes varieties that are much more cold hardy. Also referred to as Lima pepper and Limo. Aji translates to Pepper. The name is pronounced- ah-hee-lee-mo. Beautiful bright yellow tapers are an average of 2 inches long. The colour starts out green then ripens to yellow. The flavour has an intense spiciness with citrus overtones, with some definite heat. Used in salsa and makes a fine dried spice. The plants are very bushy and productive, growing well in pots, ready in 90 days.
