The Story

Ocimum basilicum

  • Herb
  • Very mild anise flavor with hints of citrus
  • 7 to 14 days to germination
  • 80 days to maturity

Lemon Basil is an annual herb with thin, downy, pale green foliage. It features a tantalizing lemon aroma and taste, with spikes of tiny white flowers in the summer.

200 mg / Approx. 120-130 seeds

Preparation Ideas: Add whole lemon basil leaves to stir fries just before removing out of the pan. The basil enhances spicy dishes, pork, and seafood.

Instructions: Start indoors near a sunny window 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Or, sow in the garden in full sun when frost danger is over and ground is warm. Performs best in rows 2 feet apart. Thin or transplant plants to 10 inches apart when they are 2 inches tall.

Suggestions: Pick leaves and stems at any time for fresh use. Harvest just before blooming for dried use.
