The Story

Ipomoea tricolor

Vigorous climbers whose satiny trumpet-shaped blossoms are pearly white with sky blue markings. New flowers open early each day at mid-summer and shine out from the lush green vines, then close in the afternoon.

Light Full sun
Bloom time Summer
Plant spacing 6-8 inches
Planting depth 1/2 inch
Days to germination 8-10
Plant height 8-10 feet

Gardener's Notes: Erect strong supports at least 8 feet tall at planting time to hold these vigorous climbers. Wait till late spring when nights reach at least 50F (10C) before sowing directly outdoors in a sunny spot in ordinary garden soil. Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep, 3-4 inches apart. Thin seedlings to stand 8 inches apart. Starting midsummer, vines open abundant blossoms every morning until the sun is strong; longer on cloudy days.
