The Story

Anethum graveolens

Cut sprigs of delicious feathery leaves to enhance summer veggies, salads, soups and main dishes. This is the best variety for fragrant seed heads to use in pickles.  Let some plants bloom to attract butterflies.

1g.

Light Full sun
Harvest time Fall-Summer
Plant spacing 4 inches
Planting depth 1/4 inch
Days to germination 7-14
Plant height 1-2 feet

Gardener's Notes: Sow in a sunny spot with good drainage in spring-early fall in warm climates or, in cold climates, in spring when ground can be worked. Can also be started indoors 2-3 weeks before planting outdoors. Make successive sowings for continuous supply. Scatter seed thinly, press seeds into top of soil and cover lightly. Thin established seedlings 4 inches apart. Harvest ferny leaves as needed.
