Gardener's Notes: Start seeds indoors 4 weeks before the last spring frost or sow directly outdoors after the last frost when temperatures are above 50F (10C). To aid germination, soak seeds overnight in warm water. Can be grown in rows or hills like squash in fertile, well-drained soil. Train on a trellis or fence. Harvest gourds before frost. Dry thoroughly in a warm, dark place. Polish with paste wax to enhance color.
