The Story

Coreopsis

Sunfire is guaranteed to brighten any garden! Pollinator friendly golden yellow flowers 5 cm across are centred by red-burgundy eyes. The plants themselves are quite compact and bushy – maturing to 45 cm (18″) in height and spreading to 45-60 cm in width. Plants resemble a little flowering bush when mature. Sunfire is a reliable first year flowering perennial. Established plants can bloom from late June well into October. A good flowering plant to use where deer browsing is a problem.  Hardy to Zone 3.

How to Grow

Sow directly outdoors or 10 weeks early indoors for early summer flowering the first year. Sow outdoors anytime April to June and again in late August and early September for flower in the following year. Thin seedlings to 30 cm apart in the garden. Self-seeds very easily when established. Divide older plants every 3 to 4 years. If starting indoors, use a soil-less mix and keep seed at 21° C. After germination, grow-on under lights at a cooler temperature of 12° C. After hardening off, transplant outdoors to a fully sunny spot after the danger of frost has passed. Germination occurs in 10-14 days.

Approx. 20-25 seeds/pkt
